Overflow, rescue, and survival

Threat garbage, top-out checks, rescue limits, and battle defeat.

Staying in the battle

Adventure battles have no player Health. Reduce enemy Health to zero to win. Unresolved enemy threats add garbage rows and reduce your placement space. Each battle starts with a fresh board and its own rescue allowance.

Overflow and rescue

When the top is blocked, a failed placement in the top area can trigger overflow. A warning alone does not trigger rescue. Failed placements elsewhere do not automatically count as overflow. Garbage pushing blocks out of the board is also separate from rescue.

If rescues remain, the upper half of the board is cleared of blocks and liquids. This is not a normal line clear and does not deal line-clear damage. Triggering overflow with no rescues left loses the battle.

Mode Rescues per battle Rest-time factor Daily negative modifier increases
Casual 3 1.5 1
Standard 1 1 2
Hard (Full) 0 0.5 3

Casual allows a return to the map after defeat. Defeat in Standard or Hard ends the adventure. The tutorial uses its own practice flow.

Garbage from enemy threats

Expired threat blocks and unmet area requirements combine into garbage pressure for the current settlement. Normal and elite battles use a factor of 1; bosses use 2.

Pressure = ceil(unresolved threat amount × pressure factor). A settlement adds at most four rows. Excess pressure increases garbage durability. For example, pressure 6 produces four rows with durability 1, 1, 2, 2, rather than six rows.

Reducing pressure

Resting at camp lowers existing daily negative modifiers. It does not restore Health or replenish rescue charges. Periodic environmental garbage is a separate source from enemy threats; see Weather and bottom pressure.

Minesweeper and fitting challenges use their own time penalties and checkpoints instead of adventure rescue charges. See Challenges.
