Restrictions and resistances
Temporary rules, forbidden zones, and the properties of materials.
Temporary restrictions
| Restriction | Effect |
|---|---|
| No Rotation | Prevents new rotations; an existing Classic orientation is not forcibly reset |
| No Pick | Limits selection to the first available PICK slot |
| No Clear | Prevents full rows from clearing, so they do not immediately free space |
| Preview Fog | Obscures information about upcoming pieces |
| Forbidden zone | Prevents placement in an area; it is not a solid obstacle |
Restrictions can come from enemy moves or encounter modifiers. Their duration advances with placements. Reapplying the same restriction keeps the longer remaining duration instead of adding the durations together.
Material resistance
Immovability, blast resistance, transformation immunity, blocking line clears, and needing multiple clears are separate properties. Obsidian, Gold Blocks, and Cursed Blocks do not all behave alike.
For example, Sandify and Petrify can affect blast-resistant blocks in their stronger inner area, but still cannot bypass skill transformation immunity. A block that resists an alignment skill does not necessarily resist every other board transformation.
If a skill seems ineffective, check its target, whether the area contains anything it can change, the material’s properties, and the skill’s inner and outer areas. See Materials and Player skills.
